Not being able to color my hair…

Posted in DF Beth's Blog on February 8, 2012 by dragonflyshair

….Has been one of the hardest things for me so far. Who ever knows me understands this statement.  I get bored with my hair pretty fast and need constant change.  I have had almost every color in the palate from Platinum blonde to Funky purple.  I had Black which I loved but very little people liked.  You know some women have a shopping addiction.  They shop if they are sad or just need a little pick me up; well, that’s what hair does for me.  Every color makes me feel like a different person.  It’s a great pick me up.  Great thing that I chose this profession or I would be in trouble.  Hahahaha.

Now pregnant I don’t want to color my hair or wear high heals.  My baby comes first and I feel that I already do a lot by doing color on people everyday.  So this is a small sacrifice worth while.  Being pregnant is a wonderful thing; one of the wonders of being a woman. Bringing life into this world I can’t think of anything better.

So I guess that I’m just sharing this with you guys so you don’t get too disappointed when you see me looking blah! I’m doing it for a cause….My baby boy; whom I adore and have not met yet.

With love, Beth

Drinking Coffee…..

Posted in DF Beth's Blog on February 7, 2012 by dragonflyshair

…Some people say drinking coffee its bad for your health. However, some studies show that drinking coffee has it’s benefits as well.  For example people who drink coffee are:

  • less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia
  • have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes

Of course like everything else, these are good things when done in moderation.  I just thought this was very interesting I love coffee and have always know about some of the benefits but found it extremely interesting to find out that it would help with dementia.  And another thing is that it also prevents depression.

I will talk to you guys some more tomorrow.  Have a good night.

Super Bowl is here!!!

Posted in DF Beth's Blog on February 5, 2012 by dragonflyshair

Ok the truth is that I am not really a football fan. However, this is a special opportunity for me to spend time with the family and have great food. I am having a blast being at Rafael and Megan’s house. Megan has made delicious appetizer that she found in Pintrest and Jennifer made delicious empanadillas from Puerto Rico. My honey made tuna melts on tostitos scoops and I made sorullos from Puerto Rico. Oh of course I can’t forget the hot dogs that Rafael and Ezie grilled. Very good food and great company. What else can you ask for?

I am really enjoying the commercials and Madonna’s show; all I can say it WOW!!!

I hope all of you watching the Super Bowl are having as good of time as I am.  If you are drinking please do it responsibly and don’t worry about the calories consumed today.  We can work them out tomorrow.

Thank you for reading and have fun,

Beth

Home remedies for Beautiful lips

Posted in DF Beth's Blog, DF General on February 4, 2012 by dragonflyshair

Of course, as we all know drinking plenty of water helps our entire body.  Hydration is the key to beautiful Skin, Hair, etc.  A well maintain diet is ideal, but, who are we kidding half of us don’t eat as well as we should.  Fast food has made it too convenient for all of us to just eat anything on the run.

So here are a few things we might be able do to help our lips have the perfect glow and feel they should have.

  • Gently massage your lips with a soft toothbrush twice a day; and then apply a small amount of olive oil on your lips.
  • Exfoliate once a week your lips with a natural scrub.
  • DO NOT lick your lips
  • Once a week, make a mask that will nourish and soften your lips.
  • occasionally,  apply honey to your lips for 5 minutes

Here are some natural scrub recipes that you might want to try.

  • 1 tsp of Brown Sugar + 1 tsp olive oil ( Mix and massage for about 30 seconds, rinse and finish with lip balm.)
  • 1 tsp of Honey + 1 tsp of Baking Soda + a few drops of Olive Oil (Apply onto your lips and allow it to penetrate the skin for a few minutes, rinse off with warm water and using a washcloth.)

Lip Mask recipes

  • 1 tsp of Carrot Juice + 1 tsp of Sour-Cream (Mix and spread this mixture on your lips for a few minutes, rinse and finish with lip balm.)
  • 1/2 Grated Apple + 1 tsp Unsalted Butter (Mix and spread on your lips for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with cool water.)

I really hope you enjoy these helpful tips.  Anything for beauty! Right?

Thank you for reading,

Beth

2011 in review

Posted in DF General, Dragonfly's Info on January 19, 2012 by dragonflyshair

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,200 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
